TERAMO
Did you know that from the Teramo Astronomical Observatory an asteroid was discovered in 1902 bearing the name of the city? That’s right, thanks to its enviable position on a hill at the foot of the Gran Sasso, the city has a privileged view of the sky that can now be studied and best observed thanks to the Science Park instrumentation.
The hills surrounding Teramo are rich in vineyards and olive groves, where certified and protected Italian excellences are produced. Of Roman origin, the city has several archaeological sites that can be visited with the remains of amphitheaters, spas and infrastructures. The medieval development has left the city with the typical structure of the village of central Italy, protected by walls (later expanded and then demolished) with four access doors. Pride of the historical center are the numerous cloisters, the Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta and the modern Piazza Martiri della Libertà.
